CAI-tools (Computer-assisted interpreting) are any kind of technology that support interpreters in their work. Prof. Dr. Bart Defrancq of Ghent University will demonstrate the use of an in-booth support system that shows targeted information extracted from the source speech on a booth or a laptop screen. CAI-tools for the booth can be an interpreter’s best friend, but they can also be an annoyance, depending on personal and contextual parameters. He will demontrate the use of a CAI-tool developed at Ghent University and give an overview of the most recent studies on the cognitive ergonomics of such tools.

The training will normally be done in English, with possibility to ask questions in Dutch or French.

This webinar is the first in a series of several AI-related webinars for interpreters. For translators, we’ll organise the AI-training day on 18th of October.
